Joe Kent: Government Must Open Jobs to Non-Traditional Educational Backgrounds

Today, Joe Kent made the following statement:

“A majority of American adults do not have a traditional four-year college degree.

Yet too many government jobs disqualify someone without a bachelor’s degree for no apparent reason. Why is someone who spent four years studying poetry better qualified for an entry-level government job than someone who spent those four years working sixty hours a week working their way up to supervisor in a factory?

The first rungs on the ladder to positions of power in our government are shut off to most Americans. These Americans decided either by choice or family circumstances to take a route other than going to college. This contributes to the severe social and cultural disconnect between the policymakers in D.C. and the people they are responsible for serving.

When elected, I will introduce legislation that will require every government job listing to only require a college degree if it is technically necessary. For example, mathematics, engineering, geology, etc., and consider alternative workforce experience wherever applicable.

Further, I will set aside at least one-third of the jobs on my congressional staff for those who do not have a traditional educational background, and one-third for those from the district. And I will advocate for my fellow representatives in Congress to do the same.

This is a small step but a step nonetheless towards changing the culture of our federal government and making the people that govern our country better resemble the culture and experiences of the people they serve.”

Joe Kent Announces Opposition to Washington’s K-12 Mask Mandates, Social Distancing, and Testing Guidance

In response to concerns that the Washington Department of Health is mandating face coverings, social distancing and COVID-19 testing in schools, Joe Kent made the following statement.

“For the past year, the government subjected our children to unnecessary and extreme  measures with no basis in science, including mask mandates and shutting down in-person schooling.

The Department of Health requirement for children to wear masks in schools, mandating social distancing, and requiring unvaccinated children to be frequently tested for COVID-19 is an unconstitutional overreach of our state government and is not backed up by any medical research.

As a parent of two young school children, I stand with all of the parents of the Third Congressional District, Washington state, and across our country in demanding the removal of these draconian restrictions.” Joe Kent is available for interviews. The reception they receive from the general public is extremely encouraging. Our campaign is grassroots in its nature and will continue to be throughout the entire campaign.”

Joe Kent Challenges Jaime Herrera Beutler to Debate

Battle Ground, WA – Today, Candidate Joe Kent challenged Jaime Herrera Beutler to a debate in Washington’s Third Congressional District.

Candidate Joe made the following statement:

Jaime Herrera Beutler appeared on Lars Larson’s radio show and made numerous false statements. Beutler quoted a fake news story from Vanity Fair. Beutler alleged that Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller claimed President Trump incited a riot on January 6th.

Secretary Miller not only refuted such falsehoods, he endorsed my candidacy in April. As a loyal SecDef to President Trump, Christopher Miller executed his office with distinction. It was an honor to serve under Miller in Iraq, and it’s reprehensible that Beutler would make false statements regarding a SecDef in an attempt to tarnish President Trump.

Beutler claimed she’s a conservative. Beutler voted with the radical left to halt the construction of the border wall. She voted for amnesty. She voted for the sham impeachment and was the star witness in the ‘trial’.

Beutler voted against our troops, opposing  President Trump when he tried to take our soldiers out of Syria. The slow-rolling by the neocons of President Trump’s withdrawal from Syria resulted in my wife and three other American’s deaths in the line of duty on January 16th, 2019.

Given that Beutler is unaware of what a conservative is, I challenge her to a public debate. Washington’s Third Congressional District needs an America First representative. Not Beutler and her American Last policies. Secretary Miller and Candidate Joe are both available for interviews. If interested, please email Byron Sanford at byron@joekentforcongress.com or via cell at 360.210.6943.

Joe Kent Announces Opposition to Vaccinating Children Without Parental Consent

In response to concerns that school districts in Washington and elsewhere may vaccinate minor children without parental consent, Joe Kent made the following statement:

Parental authority is sacred and must not be pushed aside to inject experimental COVID vaccines into a child behind a parent’s back. The decision of whether to vaccinate a minor must lie entirely with the child’s parents.

We have witnessed the government bypassing parental consent for medical procedures on minors, including for abortions, right here in Washington State in King County.

I’m a parent of two young children myself, and I stand with parents of the Third Congressional District, the state of Washington, and all across the country demanding no minor child is given an experimental drug without his or her parent’s explicit consent.

Joe Kent joins the Washington Alliance for Technology Workers (Washtech) case, with Congressman Paul Gosar, Congressman Mo Brooks, Congressman Madison Cawthorn, and Congressman Louie Gohmert

Joe Kent made the following statement:

I’m honored to join the Washington Alliance of Technology Workers case with four patriotic congressmen. The purpose of this case is to end the Post-completion Optional Practical Training loophole that allowed immigrants on student visas to be employed by companies here in the United States after these students have completed their studies. Big business has exploited this program to employ untold numbers of foreigners and take jobs away from American citizens.

With the cost of living rising exponentially, it is immoral for our federal government to permit multinational corporations to employ young foreign workers. Meanwhile, our own young people are struggling to find high-paying employment. For too long, the federal government and big businesses have colluded to drive wages down by bringing in foreign labor.

We must put our workers first. We can only do this by ensuring we have American jobs for American workers.

Candidate Joe is available for interviews. If interested, please email Byron Sanford at byron@joekentforcongress.com or via cell at 360.210.6943.

Joe Kent Condemns Camas School Board for Teaching Critical Race Theory

Joe Kent made the following statement:

It is disappointing to see the Camas School Board prioritize the teaching of Critical Race Theory even though your constituents strongly oppose it. I suspect that this curriculum was recommended to you by one of the out-of-state race relations consulting firms, to which you gave tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars.

An ethics professor, who cites Marx as an influence on his theory, developed Critical Race Theory. The school board needs to explain to parents why they teach a theory based on an ideology the United States fought against for decades.

If you want to improve the curriculum of public schools, then I suggest you go to the voters with your questions. As a school board member, you are not on a high-counsel of educators. You are a public servant, and your job is to teach the curriculum that your voters tell you to teach. The public school system is designed to be an institution that parents use to monitor their children’s education. Parents have the right to decide the curriculum.

I look forward to seeing them exercise that right and supporting school board candidates who will listen to parents.

Joe Kent Condemns Congresswoman Beutler’s Support for Liz Cheney

Joe Kent made the following statement:

Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler has once again turned her back on the constituents of Washington’s Third Congressional District. Beutler’s vocal support for retaining Liz Cheney as part of the leadership in the House of Representatives is a slap in the face to all conservatives and constitutionalists.

Liz Cheney and Jaime Herrera Beutler voted for the sham impeachment of President Trump, advocate for forever wars abroad, and put America last on immigration and trade. Beutler and Cheney made it crystal clear that they support the failed, pre-Trump Establishment Republicans agenda.

Beutler and Cheney perpetuate the fake news narrative that supporters of Trump are violent insurrectionists. Beutler even told the New York Times that Trump supporters are “fringy people”.

We cannot put America First as long as America Last Republicans are part of our party’s leadership.
